News, Appearances, and Updates
Amulet, which is Abrams' Young Adult and Children's imprint, best known for publishing the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, has bought my young adult novel, Splintered. I'll keep this page updated as I have things to report. Book-signings, reviews, awards, appearances and blog tours will be posted here as it gets closer to my book's publication date. For now, I'll just say, "Hallelujah, I have a publisher!"
I can now make it official: Splintered has not only sold in America, but has had some interest in the foreign market, too. Here's the PublishersMarketplace announcement for my American and German sales:
German rights to Bertelsmann Juvenile and Heyne, by Friederike Biesel at the Thomas Schlueck Agency.
Also, Splintered has been listed onGoodReads, which means I'm officially a GoodReads' author. Here's the link to my author profile. And I'm on three group blogs along with some amazing authors to help promote my book's upcoming debut:
What an honor to be in their company! I feel so legit. :)
I recently heard from my editor, Maggie Lehrman, at Amulet. They had originally envisioned Splintered to be a Spring 2013 release, but after circulating the manuscript to some book store reps and getting great feedback, the suggestion was proposed to make it a January 2013 book. January, though late in the season, is actually considered a Fall 2012 month. She said the enthusiasm was so high they felt it was worth bumping me up. So I'll be out in Fall 2012 now! This means that edits and covers and everything else are being moved up, so what once felt like a turtle trot has kicked into Nascar gear. Make no mistake, I'm not complaining! :)
We sold to Taiwan! PublishersMarketplace announcement:
Complex Chinese rights to AG Howard's Splintered, to Wisdom Distribution Service, in a nice deal, by Gray Tan at The Grayhawk Agency on behalf of Nicole Steen at The Bent Agency.
This month, I officially signed my Amulet contracts (yes, they bought my book in August, but believe it or not, it takes months to get all the legal stuff worked out in writing so an author can start receiving payments). Starting January 2012, I will be a PAID AUTHOR. Yeah!
More good news ... I received word that Splintered has sold to Brazil, which means it will now also be translated in Portuguese. Yeah! PublishersMarketplace announcement:
Brazilian rights to Anita Howard's Splintered, to Novo Conceito, by Philip Sane at Lennart Sane Agency, on behalf of Jenny Bent at The Bent Agency.
