As a longtime resident of the Texas Panhandle, Anita is accustomed to flat plains with sparse growths of shrubbery and spindly trees—not always the best terrain for inspiration. But she’ll be the first to admit this unobstructed horizon allows for some of the most breathtaking sunsets in the southwest.
When she began writing over three years ago, this ability to see beauty in unlikely places started to seep onto the pages of her novels. In each story, she found herself utilizing the loveliness of the most simple human conditions and raw emotions to color her stories.
Married for eighteen years and mother of two children (as well as surrogate mom to two Labrador retrievers), Anita now divides her days between working in the library of a local middle school, spending time with her family, and plodding along or simply plotting on her next writing project.
Anita has recently acquired a literary agent to represent Forgotten Silences (title pending)—a Victorian England literary romance novel with ghostly elements—and hopes to find a publishing home for it soon. In the meantime, she’s planning and plotting a three book series which ties into Forgotten, all of them romances set in roughly the same time era. She intends to one day extend her writing palate to include paranormal/gothic romances and fantasy with romantic elements, as well.
When she’s not writing, Anita enjoys rollerblading, dirt-biking, and snow skiing, and one day plans to try her hand at something a bit more aesthetically and spiritually gratifying, such as landscaping and gardening—the perfect venue to complement those spectacular Panhandle sunsets.
